Harvey Pence Update: October
We’ve spent time with business owners throughout Australia, New Zealand and Europe, researching many new industries, a hackathon in France and been publicly testing. We wanted to share an update of our progress over the last two months.
We created a Comprehensive Guide to Getting Customers with a Referral Network. As we want to help you get your referral network underway and avoid any pitfalls, we built this guide to cover everything as using harveypence.com is just one part of creating a profitable referral network. We know business owners are already getting value and we’ve made some changes and added an additional topic based on feedback.
The Wizard is here, not Gandalf, something a bit more real and more helpful. We spent hundreds of hours with business owners and we commonly discussed how to build a referral network. We then built the Referral Network Wizard to help. It is quick and easy, asking users for their typical customer scenario their business helps with and designing a network around this scenario. We look forward to sharing it soon.
Public testing began for the Harvey Pence Platform after we migrated to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and we’ve had a large group of users testing the platform. We found a few small things to improve so we can do to make it even easier to use. One key learning was that we realised that the words we use to describe things are different from business owners after many conversations, therefore have made it much clearer.
The Waitlist received businesses a very broad range of industries. We are extremely happy with the variety of these industries and volume of businesses that joined. Here are a few of the diverse industries that signed up:

The Simple Need Matcher (SNM), kinda like Say No More, has taken shape. This is the smarts powering the referrals on the Harvey Pence Platform. As customers describe their needs in their own words and we need to match these needs with compatible services, we build our SNM to help. We are proud to share that we can currently match 1,710 needs and the list grows weekly. Best explained with an example.. a customer sees their accountant and says, “I need my windows repaired”, we take this need, auto match to the services that can help, in this case, a Glazier. This means a business owner only needs to understand the customers need, we take care of the complexity by matching the business automatically.
Our launch approach has changed after spending time with two brilliant companies Whip Around and Shared Space. Based on our discussions with their founders, for a limited time, we are going to launch with a 6 month free trial for businesses. We are doing this to help our community get the most from their referral network and our platform. In addition to this lengthy free trial, we’re also going to provide additional value for our first 100 users, more to come on that later.
